Sports infrastructure
QUESTION
(a) the expenditure incurred by the Ministry towards augmentation of sports facilities and
infrastructure during the last five years, State-wise;
(b) the steps taken by the Ministry to support athletes and sports infrastructure in the State of
Haryana along with the total expenditure incurred thereon during the last five years; and
(c) the steps taken by Government towards promotion of traditional sports?

THE MINISTER OF YOUTH AFFAIRS & SPORTS (SHRI ANURAG SINGH THAKUR)
(a) & (b) Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS) implements the following schemes for
the development of sports, to provide support to athletes and creation of sports infrastructure, in the
country, including the State of Haryana:
(i) Khelo India- National Programme for Development of Sports; (ii) Assistance to National Sports
Federations; (iii) Special Awards to Winners in International Sports Events and their Coaches; (iv)
National Sports Awards; (v) Pension to Meritorious Sportspersons; (vi) Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay
National Sports Welfare Scheme; (vii) National Sports Development Fund; and (viii) Running Sports
Training Centres through Sports Authority of India.
Details of the above schemes are available in the public domain on the websites of this Ministry and the Sports Authority of India.
Funds are allocated Scheme-wise, not State-wise in this Ministry. The details of the funds allocated and spent by this Ministry under various sports promotional schemes, including for development of sports infrastructure/ sports facilities and to support athletes, during the last five years and the current year, year-wise, are as under:

(c) Under the sub-component “Promotion of rural and indigenous/tribal games” of the Khelo India Scheme and Indigenous Games & Martial Arts (IGMA) and Akharas of National Sports Talent Contest (NSTC), scheme of Sports Authority of India (SAI), traditional/ indigenous sports are promoted in the country. Further, the indigenous/ traditional games of Mallakhamb, Kalaripayattu, Gatka, Thang-Ta, Yogasana and Silambam have been included in Khelo India Games.
