ALLOWING INDIAN-ORIGIN SPORTSPERSONS TO PLAY FOR THE COUNTRY

Questions :

Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state:-

whether Government is planning to allow Indian-origin sportspersons to play for India;

if so, the details of the eligibility criteria for their selection; and

if not, the reasons therefor?

to (c):As per the existing instructions of the Government, only Indians citizens are eligible to represent India in international sports events. There is no proposal under consideration of the Government to allow Non-resident Indians to represent India in international sports events.
